Kym Marsh stars in Single White Female at Theatre Royal Brighton in January 2026.

The gripping new stage adaptation brings the iconic 1990s psychological thriller to one of Brighton’s most historic venues.

Brighton audiences can expect one of the most talked-about theatrical events of 2026 when the production arrives at Theatre Royal Brighton.

Based on the iconic 1990s psychological thriller and bestselling novel by John Lutz, this bold new production is produced by JAS Theatricals, ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions. The Brighton run is expected to attract theatre audiences from across Sussex and the South East.

Written by Rebecca Reid, the acclaimed author, journalist and broadcaster, this brand-new stage version brings the story sharply into the modern world, reimagined for the age of social media, digital identity and online obsession. Blending dark humour with high-tension storytelling, the production explores themes of ambition, loneliness and the desperate need for connection in a world where appearances can be dangerously deceptive.

The story centres on Allie, a recently divorced mother juggling single parenthood with the launch of her tech start-up. When she advertises for a lodger to help make ends meet, the seemingly perfect Hedy arrives, offering stability and support. But as their lives become increasingly entwined, boundaries begin to blur — and what starts as a lifeline quickly descends into something far more sinister.

Kym Marsh said:

“I am so excited to be bringing this brilliant, brand new and thrilling play to theatres across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. I remember being totally gripped by the movie when I first saw it in the cinema and could never have imagined back then that I’d be starring in the world premiere of its life on stage. Get ready to be thrilled, shocked and entertained – and watch out for those stiletto heels!”

The production is directed by Gordon Greenberg (Heart of Rock and Roll – Broadway, Guys & Dolls – West End, The Baker’s Wife – Menier Chocolate Factory and New York), and comes from the producers of the hit stage adaptation of The Girl on the Train. Together, the creative team promises a tense, stylish and emotionally charged theatrical experience.

Full casting will be announced soon.
