Man Charged After Pleading Guilty to Brighton Assault

Last Friday, a man was charged with the assault of a Brighton woman, after he pleaded guilty to his crimes at Hove Crown Court.

 

Marcus Antoniou pleaded guilty to threats to kill and common assault on the victim, a 19-year-old woman on September 4th 2018. It is reported that at approximately 11.50pm the victim, who has not been named, was walking down Hodshrove Lane, near to Moulscoomb Primary School, when she spotted the perpetrator sat on a motorbike at the end of the road.

 

The driver grabbed the victim as she passed, and pushed her against the railings, putting his hands in her mouth. She was able to escape by biting down on his hand. Following this the 43-year-old, who is a refuse worker from Brighton, was arrested and charged. A sentence date is yet to be set, following his guilty plea.

 

Police are also continuing to investigate a similar incident that happened earlier on the same night, when an 18-year-old woman was grabbed and threatened, and her phone snatched, near Saunders Park. In this incident, the victim screamed which alerted a passer by who was able to intervene.
