Brighton and Hove Albion are set to clash with Manchester City in what promises to be an  enthralling Women’s Super League encounter at the Broadfield Stadium this Sunday. The  Seagulls will be motivated by their recent 7-3 victory over Bristol City and will aim to secure  consecutive league wins for the first time this season. Match Preview by Samuel Skedge

However, their task won’t be easy as they face Manchester City, who are currently in  second place and boasting an impressive run of five consecutive wins in their last five  matches. The Manchester outfit will be eager to claim all three points to mount a serious  challenge to league leaders Chelsea. A victory, coupled with other favourable results,  could put them in contention to challenge the top of the Women’s Super League table. Although the underdogs Brighton will be seeking to replicate their previous triumph over  Manchester City. Where they secured a late 1-0-win, courtesy of substitute Lee Geum min’s heroics.

Both teams had unfortunate results last weekend as the pair came crashing out of the  Women’s FA Cup competition quarterfinals. Albion had a lacklustre performance as they  were demolished 4-0 against Manchester United. Whereas Man City had a highly  competitive game against Spurs, as Mary Fowler converted an early lead for City.  Tottenham found a 90th-minute equalizer and broke Manchester’s hearts in a penalty  shootout.

The Seagulls’ defence will face a stern test against Manchester City’s prolific goal scorer  Khadija Shaw, who has notched up an impressive tally of 15 goals this season. Shaw will  undoubtedly be looking to extend her scoring streak and lead her team to victory.

A win for Brighton could see them climb to 7th in the league standings, provided other  results go in their favour. With both teams eager to bounce back from their  disappointments in the cup, this encounter promises to be an intriguing battle between  two determined sides.
