From this week there will be changes to parking charges, with the nine hour band at London Road car park set to go up for £9, and the two, four and eleven hour rates also seeing an hourly increase.
The council says that together with other measures, such as the low emissions zone, this increase in parking charges will help to further manage traffic away from busy areas, which will ease congestions and encourage higher turnover to support businesses.
The council claims that they will invest any surplus that comes out of these charges “back into improving transport for all in the city, from subsidised bus services and road maintenance to bus passes for older people and tackling misuse of disabled parking spaces.”
