Sussex Police are desperately looking for a Brighton man called Roy Atkins. The 55-year-old has been missing since Tuesday morning. He was a patient at Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Atkins is a mental health patient at the hospital, with his disappearance sparking great concern for his wellbeing. Luke Stanwick of Sussex Police’s missing person team has expressed the worries around Atkins: “We’re concerned for Mr Atkins’ welfare”

He also specified that the search extends beyond the boundaries of Brighton, and further into East Sussex: “we are making enquiries at all his previously known locations, including addresses in Brighton and Camber, near Rye.”

Sussex Police released the above image of Atkins in an appeal to those who may have recently seen him and have information. They do, however, warn that the photo is not a completely accurate representation of Atkins’ current appearance. The image is 10 years old and his hair is now white.

Sussex Police also gave the following information on Atkins’ appearance: “He is described as white, 5’8″, of medium build and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with blue stripes, white shorts and plimsolls.”

If you know of Atkins’ whereabouts be sure to contact Sussex Police as soon as possible.
