Christopher Hall: A Girl for All Seasons
Brighton Dome – 27th October 2024
4 stars
Christopher Hall lit up Brighton with his Girl for All Seasons comedy show, bursting with energy, he owned the stage.
From the moment he started, he had the crowd on side, kicking things off with some brilliant audience interaction that set a fun, relaxed tone. There was an easy warmth and cheekiness to his performance which quickly won everyone over.
The first half featured a solid support set from Karen Hobbs, though by the interval, it was clear the audience was itching for more of Christopher. And when he returned, he didn’t hold back.
Christopher’s comedy fame has exploded online, and it’s easy to see why. His knack for blending everyday situations with pop culture references, especially those from the 90s and 00s, had the audience giggling non-stop.Â
He danced, strutted and took full command of the stage, all with his signature sass. Many jokes landed with a physical punchline. He’s not one to just stand still and tell stories; he’s all about the big gestures and cheeky expressions.
Christopher talked about navigating awkward dates in your 30s, his school experiences, playing Sebastian the crab when he wanted to be a mermaid and what it’s like to be the go-to fun guest at weddings. He even did a sharp and very funny take on core values that had everyone in stitches. His observations about his time in the US and Australia, along with some playful digs at British culture, added to the fun.
The night wasn’t all about the punchlines, though. Christopher mixed in genuine moments, sharing what it was like growing up as a gay man who didn’t always fit the mould and living life as his authentic self.Â
Overall, the show was more like a catch-up with a good friend, casual, fun and full of cheeky confessions. Christopher Hall is a comic with real charisma, making you feel right at home while keeping you laughing. It’s clear he’s got a bright future, and it won’t be long before he’s lighting up even bigger stages.
