  • Sameera Bhalotra Bowers Brighton Fringe 2026 arrives after a sell-out Camden Fringe run — and the reviews say everything you need to know.

“Catch this before they’re famous” — The Obscurity ★★★★
“Utterly delightful” — The Tab ★★★★½
“Sharp observation of the absurd” — London Pub Theatres ★★★★

What Is Going On? plays at Rotunda Theatre Brighton from 1–9 May 2026. Six shows. Fifty seats. Early booking strongly recommended.

What Is the Show?

Sameera’s mum was proud when she graduated with an Economics degree from Cambridge. Less so when she went to clown school.

In this multimedia comedy hour, Sameera searches for clarity through psychic guidance, grapples with the science of perfectly spherical cows, plots her rise as the leader of an Indian tutoring empire, and tries — above all — to make her grandma proud.

If all else fails, she has a backup plan: become the first 22-year-old living in an old-age nursing home.

On LinkedIn, she is a “changemaker, global innovator and value-driven impact leader.”
In reality, she has no idea what is going on.

Who Is Sameera Bhalotra Bowers?

Sameera, 22, is a British Indian Canadian comedian, writer and performer — and her trajectory is already impressive.

A member of The Cambridge Footlights (2025), she went on to train at the École Philippe Gaulier clown school in France — one of the most demanding and influential institutions for physical and experimental comedy.

At the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe, she performed in the award-winning Penelope Quadrangle, earning reviews describing her performance as “genius” (Varsity) with “priceless comedic timing” (The Tab).

Her short film Lock-DIY-Down won a British Film Institute competition, was broadcast on Channel 4 and featured on the BBC. She is currently a finalist in the 2026 West End New Act of the Year competition.

Her comedy persona has been described as “earnestly ridiculous” and “sincerely absurd” — which feels exactly right.

Why Brighton Should Pay Attention

Brighton Fringe has a long history of spotlighting emerging talent before it breaks into the mainstream — and Sameera Bhalotra Bowers Brighton Fringe 2026 fits that pattern perfectly.

This is not traditional stand-up. It is not purely physical theatre. It is something in between — structured, but deliberately unpredictable.

There’s also something quietly recognisable beneath the chaos: the pressure to have a plan, the performance of success, and the gap between who we present ourselves as and who we actually are.
