Calling all female founders and aspiring entrepreneurs, this event is not to be missed. She Can. She Did invites you to the Brighton leg of the ‘Midweek Mingle’, an opportunity to meet fellow like-minded business women, working and living right here in the wonderful city of Brighton.
Having begun in London with three sold-out evenings, this exciting event invites young women to share their experiences of starting their own businesses, be it bakers, florists, farmers or designers, and support one another in what is undeniably a daring, and often pretty daunting venture.
Each of the Midweek Mingles, which is sponsored by Xero, will feature guest speakers in the form of women who have gone solo and bossed it. The Brighton leg will see conversations with Anna Newman, founder of the wildly successful ‘The Anna Edit’, Lucy Smith, who runs the beautiful Brighton based shop, ‘Postcards Home’ and Krisi Smith, who co-founded ‘Bird and Blend Tea Co.’ They will be joined by the founder of jewellery company ‘Posh Totty Designs’, Alice Rivers-Cripps and Lola Hoad, who founded ‘One Girl Band.’

With the help of She Can. She Did. founder, Fi Grayson, these five women will embark on an evening of honest conversation about the trials and tribulations of starting your own company, as well as offer guests advice on how to turn the dream of going solo into a reality, or how to improve an existing venture.
However, the evening will not just revolve around serious business talk. Guests can also enjoy some delicious gin & tonics courtesy of Harley House Distillery, an extra special goody bag to take home, and the chance to spend the evening with a room full of like-minded Brighton-based women – you never know, you might just meet your future business partner.
“[At the Midweek Mingle] we just have a big, honest chit chat about everything [the panel] have been through to get to where they are today, warts and all!” – She Can. She Did. and The Midweek Mingle Founder, Fi Grayson
Having initially begun She Can. She Did. last year as a platform to showcase the enormous talent of young business women in the UK, Fi Grayson knows firsthand the struggles, and excitements, of going solo with your own company. With a refreshingly honest approach to business (see her recent post on things going pear shaped here!), Fi is quickly creating a legion of women who are unashamedly becoming their own bosses, and helping other women reach the top with them.

Speaking to Brighton Journal about why she launched the Midweek Mingle, Fi said:
“When I started to research what’s holding young women back from launching their own business, the two main reasons are a lack of role models their age to aspire to and secondly, a lack of un-intimidating networking opportunities and it’s the ‘unintimidating’ bit that’s so important to me! The Midweek Mingles have been designed to combat those two things.
“There’s a panel of women their age to meet and learn from on the night and we just have a big, honest chit chat about everything they’ve been through to get to where they are today, warts and all!”

The Midweek Mingle will be stopping in Brighton at the beautiful Platf9rm on Thursday 8th November, with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are priced at £15 which includes drinks and a goody bag, and can be purchased here. Platf9rm, Tower Point, 44 North Road Brighton, BN1 1YR.
If you’re as excited as us about the Midweek Mingle, don’t waste any time and book your tickets now. Every Mingle has sold out so far, and Brighton doesn’t appear to be any different so be quick.
