The voting has opened for this years Sussex Food & Drink Awards. There are 10 finalists in each category, and they are asking you the public to vote for your favourites!

Many of the entries come from West Sussex. We have some details about the following entries from Brighton;

Brighton Gin – Nominated for Sussex Drink Producer of the Year

Brighton Gin wanted to create a product which embodied Brighton’s unusual, playful and fiercely independent spirit. Made from 100% British organic wheat spirit which is distilled in juniper, orange and lime peel, locally-grown coriander seed and milk thistle.

64 Degrees – Nominated for Sussex Eating Experience of the Year 

This restaurant is based in Brighton Lanes and known for its open kitchen and small tasty plates. Boasting fresh and local produce.

etch is located on Church street and once again uses local produce from Sussex and the surrounding area. Known for the atmosphere and amazing service and presentation.

This Scandinavian style dining room is located in the North Lane. It offers a changing menu which is inspired by the seasons of the Sussex coastline. They are certainly not scared to experiment and use the freshest ingredients available.

They have three tasting menus which are created using local suppliers; the restaurant menu, the set cafe menu and Sunday brunch menu. The atmosphere is described as relaxed and friendly and the food is British seasonal.

Barfields Butchers – Sussex Butcher of the Year

Their meat is from local farms and naturally reared and unlike many other butchers these days they work with the whole carcass so you can get any cut you desire.

Brampton Butchers – Sussex Butcher of the Year

This butchers and cheese shop has been here since 1873. They are in the heart of Kemptown and have won Sussex Butcher of the year twice before for their free range, locally sourced meat.

The other categories which were not mentioned above and don’t have any Brighton based entries are; Sussex Food Producer Of The Year, Sussex Food Shop Of The Year and Sussex Farmers Market Of The Year.
