Beach holidays are one of the most enjoyable trips to enjoy – but packing for them can be a nightmare. Whether you’re looking forward to a few days in Cornwall, a glamtrip to the Riviera, a flight to Miami for sand and sambuca or a retreat to a slice of Balinese paradise, you’ll need a few additions to the suitcase to make your mark. So if you’re jetting off somewhere lovely and hot, then take a look at our top ten beach holiday essentials.
Bikini or swimsuit: Pack both or at least more than one of each so you can mix and match throughout your holiday. Choose garments that make you feel comfortable and confident on the beach. Also try and keep in mind any water activities you might have planned.
Sun hat: Whether you are the type of person whose skin burns easily or not, you will need to take a hat with you. It will protect your eyes and face from the brightness of the sun and it is the perfect way to keep yourself looking fashionable.
Sunglasses add that touch of glamour to your outfit. This is a must-have item that can be used year after year. Don’t forget the other members of the family as well, including the little ones, who may just show you up in the style stakes.
Shorts that are cool enough for you to wear during the day, on your way down to the beach, and during a dip in the water. You can even smarten them up with a pair of heels for an evening dinner by the sea.
T-shirt is these is the go-to items come rain or shine, and they can be styled however you’d like. They’re a perfect item of clothing to just chuck on effortlessly, for men or women.
Cover up with a kimono or a lightweight jacket to slip on for times when it gets a little chillier in the evenings, or for your journey to and from the beach.
Night-time clothing: If you’re planning an entire day on the shore, you’ll need clothing for the evening when you’ll be hitting the bars or restaurants. Take a nice dress, smart trousers or a nice skirt that will make you feel stylish after a lazy day with a book.
Flip flops/sandals are must haves on a beach holiday; something to slip on your feet whilst walking across the hot sand. You can also glam your outfit up with them if you want.
Towels are multipurpose; it can be used as something to lie on, dry you off or wrap around you. Should you forget your towel, your accommodation should supply them.
Beach bag is a must have for any holiday. It will keep all the above essentials in and make it a lot easier to travel with. Being splash proof helps if the heavens open, and zips (locked if necessary) will keep your expensive items safe.
