As we are slowly crawling into normality, some are wanting to spread their wings a little bit further, maybe it be a change of scenery, a family holiday or a weekend away. By Nicola Wright

But not forgetting there are still guidelines to follow and in some areas stricter rules apply, so being mindful with every activity you seek to take part in should be with caution and safely as well as fun.

If you are anything like myself, this is just one of my many pleasures I love to do when visiting new places not just in the UK but across the globe. Whether it be alone, with friends, partner or with younger siblings it’s something for everyone to enjoy, so if you struggling for an extra idea this one is perfect. And like any business in the world right now, you are making a small contribution to help go a long way.

For the sweet lovers, majority of the time we are easily pleased. But when you are in a new place or you are heading to a new place, for some this maybe in theirs minds to carry out a little research. The reality of social media has a heavy influence in potentially making that choice for you with myself finding majority via instagram which has lead me been drawn in by the sugar coated frosting cakes and by the most beautiful drop back designs which along with the reviews it has led me to visit.

I have picked five delicious, fun, creative cafes around the UK if you ever find yourself seeking that extra sugar.

The Flour Pot Bakery- Brighton and The Hove

Firstly I am starting with one of Brighton’s own, The Flour Pot Bakery. Spread across seven locations within Brighton and the Hove it combines a relaxing fresh atmosphere with the perfect treats. From where it all began with the making of fresh homemade bread which is what the café is well known for, it also offers the perfect combination with its home made coffee, hand crafted and homemade food recipes and sweets that are heavenly, and also caters for vegan and VLG.

If you are heading to or are near the seafront The Flour Pot on the beach will be your closest spot to enjoy this beautiful place. Set on the seafront there is no other perfect way to enjoy a coffee or a slice of heaven. Alternatively The Portland Road location in the Hove the newest addition which opened in 2019 not only has combines your coffee and cake needs but offers a unique style combing flour with flowers, perfect for that photo location.

Peggy Porschen – Chelsea, London

This café is arguably one of the most famous and popular cafes in London and known internationally too. Once you have looked at the images on their website or Instagram you will see the reason why. Not only offering a range of selective, hand-made, mouth-watering cakes, which you can also order for special occasions it offers a range of various coffee sections with other drinks to be enjoyed too and home-made food options to enjoy when dining at the café.

The cupcake section is nothing I have experienced before. Their addictive sweet taste, and their picturesque image will leave you wanting more. The cakes are not the only factor attracting people to this location. The unique pink and flowery styling externally has drawn crowds in the hundreds per day just to get that perfect image or glimpse of the café. This café can get very busy, so if this is somewhere you are not missing on your trip I would recommend to book or if it is just a cake you are wanting make sure to time your visit at the right time as the queue can be a minimum 40 minute wait.

Betty’s Tea Room- York

From Switzerland to Yorkshire this classic, popular and unique café is showing the hospitality industry just how magic can be created. With its business spanning for more than 100 years and its impeccable menu, you will know doubt have to make a reservation in order to visit and get the true experience properly, you can just chance it and turn up but the queue to take away can even take up to an hour long wait.

With its traditional English setting, classic English tea pots and tea cups this café brings some of the tastiest treats I have ever tasted. From the colourful selection of macaroons to the traditional English dish of jam and scones which are all hand crafted and homemade, finished with that extra added glitter. Not only is Betty’s popular for its cakes, the café offers a menu of creative foods and drinks to enjoy. For the coffee lovers Betty’s offer a range of their very own brand of blends depending on your mood and taste buds. It’s a true traditional English gem not to be missed.

Lovecrumbs – Edinburgh

If you are around or heading up to the beautiful city of Edinburgh you will be spoilt for choice with beautiful architecture, historical monuments and lastly beautiful eatery’s. When it comes to just picking one of my favourite cafes it was a difficult decision to make. One of my personal favourites, a perfect go to for coffee and cake with friends or with children with its relaxed, rustic and creative theme is Lovecrumbs. From cinnibuns to the most refreshing coffee mixed with a little Scottish air this café truly is a spectacular treat.

Along with the dining in and takeout options the café also has a section of handmade, unique, productive products for you to indulge in. Like any place around the U.K there are a lot of unique, tasty and special eatery’s to enjoy, these are just five in a long list of others that I have hand picked to tailor to your style and needs.
