Founded and led by the charismatic Marcella Puppini, The Puppini Sisters burst onto the scene in the mid-2000s with a debut that became a genuine cultural phenomenon — transforming songs by The Smiths, Kate Bush, Blondie and others into irresistibly sassy swing arrangements that won them fans across generations and continents.
Two decades on, the group shows no signs of slowing down. Their new album The Birthday Party is vintage Puppini — jazz classics sitting alongside reimagined modern pop songs, all delivered in the trademark close-harmony swing style that made them stars. It is at once a celebration of twenty years and a statement of artistic intent: this is a group still at the height of their powers.
Along the way, The Puppini Sisters have accumulated an enviable roster of famous admirers.
