Is it worth killing someone to shine on Broadway once more? That’s the dilemma the once successful thriller playwright, Sidney Bruhl, sees himself trapped in. Suffering from an ongoing writer’s block, the once so successful thriller playwright smells blood when he receives the script for a brilliant yet unpublished whodunit written by a talented new writer.
Craving another Broadway success, Sidney plans to invite the newcomer to his remote country home to get his hands on the second of only two script copies and get rid of the original author. Will he really be able to follow through with his murderous plan?
Ira Levin’s thriller Deathtrap will have the audiences guessing until the play’s very end, taking them on a journey through a maze of spine-chilling yet funny twists and turns. One of the most successful plays of its genre, it is also the longest running thriller in Broadway history.
Adam Penford, the newly appointed Artistic Director of Nottingham Playhouse, has taken on the thriller for an exciting new production of the play starring stage and TV stars Paul Bradley, best known for his ten year role playing ‘Professor Elliot Hope’ in the BBC’s Holby City, and Jessie Wallace who has created the iconic role of ‘Kat Slater’ in EastEnders. They will be joined on stage by various other acclaimed actors such as Sam Philipps and Beverly Klein.
At the beginning of September, the Salisbury Playhouse Production will go on tour around the UK, stopping at Brighton’s Theatre Royal from the 12th to the 16th of September. Tickets are on sale now.
