Freya Hoffmeister, born May 10th 1964, is a globally famous sea kayaker and expeditioner who has undertaken the two world’s greatest timed sea kayaking continental circumnavigations. In addition she holds various islands records. Her immense skill on the water has earned her the name “Freya Shakti” or “Goddess of Love to the Seas”.
She’s gained various awards during her lengthy and impressive career, including ”Sportswoman of the Year”, the National Geographics “Adventurer of the Year”, “Outdoor” European Adventurer of the Year and DKV “Botschafterin des Kanusports”.
Some of her most extreme and astounding adventures include record-setting circumnavigations of Iceland, New Zealand South, Australia, Ireland and South America. She is currently planning to paddle around North America.
The legendary kayak master stops in Brighton to share stories about her expedition all the way around South America.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear first hand about the awe inspiring nerve and self discipline it takes to complete a paddle on this scale.
The talk will last for 2 hours with a break. There will be a question and answer session and book signing once it has concluded.

There are no age restrictions on this event. Please bring your e-mail confirmation / tickets with you as ID.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Bus stops are just a couple of minutes walk away and Brighton Railway Station is about 10 minutes walk. There is no parking at the venue although there are public car parks in the centre of Brighton.
What can I bring into the event?
