Stuck for inspiration of fun things to do with your loved one this season? Missing the romantic sunset walks along the beach over Summer or afternoon picnics soaking up the rays? Look no further!

The weather outside may be leaving you feeling a little blue but these date ideas will brighten up the greyest of days! Check out our list below for the top 5 date ideas in Brighton this Autumn to give you some inspiration.

1) Comedy night

If you haven’t yet had a comedy night at Brighton’s very own Komedia, then what are you waiting for? Relax and have a giggle with one another over a multitude of comedy nights at Komedia this Autumn. Stand up & Slam is a personal favourite – a monthly event where spoken word poetry and comedy are pitted against one another, and the audience get to choose who wins. Bin off an evening on the sofa and head down to Brighton’s best loved Comedy venue for a guaranteed hilarious night together. Catch Stand Up & Slam’s next show this coming Wednesday 16th October at 8pm!

2) Day out in Lewes

Nothing beats a wholesome day spent in the beautiful and historic town of Lewes. Boasting an array of tea rooms, antiques houses, bookshops, cosy pubs, cafes and more, you’re sure to have plenty to keep you both busy. If the weather even holds off raining for one second, why not immerse yourself in the history and explore Lewes Castle? Joint admission tickets are available at the humble price of £13 with Anne of Cleves’ house nearby (where you can explore how the Tudors and Elizabethans really lived!), so pop down to Lewes one weekend to make the most of this beautiful town on our doorstep.

3) Sunday Roast

There’s nothing better than finishing off a lazy Sunday this Autumn with a delicious Roast dinner. Brighton has an array of scrumptious Roasts for you and your other half to enjoy, so get the wine flowing and the food comas coming as you tuck in. The Sussex Yeoman offers a wide selection of food, including an excellent Vegetarian Roast – Roast Butternut Squash, Feta, Oregano, Olive and Red Pepper Wellington. With Yorkshire puddings almost the size of the plate, it’s safe to say you won’t be leaving hungry. If you’re somehow, dare I say it, bored of Roast dinners (abomination!) then The Sussex Yeoman also offers plenty of other options to tantalise your tastebuds such as risotto’s, pie’s and a variety of burgers. Cosy up in the corner of a pub and let the conversation flow all afternoon over some tasty food.

The Sussex Yeoman can be found up by Brighton Railway Station at 7 Guildford Rd

4) Cinema

Everyone loves a Movie night so after you’ve debated what popcorn to get, take your comfy seats in one of Brighton’s best-loved cinemas, Duke of York’s Picturehouse. The perfect romantic setting, this cinema is 109 years old and lays claim to being one of the oldest cinemas in the world. Why not go and see Renee Zellweger’s acclaimed performance as the legendary Judy Garland in Judy (2019)? Nothing speaks romantic more than watching old films together – Duke of York’s ‘Vintage Sundays’ are a chance to see classic films on the big screen. This Sunday’s screening is the iconic To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), so head along to spend some quality time together over a Classic.

To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) is on at Duke of York’s Picturehouse this Sunday, 20th October at 12:00.

5) Pub night

Last but by no means least, nothing beats relaxing on a Friday night over some drinks and some good conversation. If you’re feeling like splashing the cash a little then head to The Mesmerist for some cocktails surrounded by retro-inspired décor. If you want to keep it low-key then head to a firm favourite, The White Rabbit along Kensington Gardens for a more intimate and lively setting with great deals on. If you’re both looking for something a bit more energetic, World’s End makes the best date night spot, a brilliant place for breaking the ice on a first date or letting off some steam after a week at work. The pub has a huge upstairs space with retro-inspired arcade games to enjoy together and relaxing after a busy week.
