With the summer (apparently) now getting underway, now is the perfect time to experience more of Brighton’s diverse music scene. So, take a look at this list of upcoming gigs and enjoy some great music!

Andrea Gibson will be at the Komedia

Monday 4th June: Coming to the Komedia on Monday night is Andrea Gibson. Gibson is a fascinating artist who blends her activist poetry with minimalist instrumentation. She evokes a sombre, reflective experience. If you’re looking for a soul-searching session, then make sure not to miss this.

Indie icons Don Broco play Concorde 2

Tuesday 5th June: Indie kings Don Broco are coming to the Concorde 2, bringing their punchy indie anthems for you to enjoy. The four-pieces already substantial following, and the success of their 2018 album Technology charting at 5th in the UK Charts, mean that this is guaranteed to be a night you won’t want to miss.

Bel Esprit play Sticky Mike’s

Wednesday 6th June: 5 piece Southampton band Bel Esprit are playing Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar. The band play a highly accessible form of alternative indie, and are guaranteed to make you feel good. So, if you’re looking for a memorable way to mark the middle of the week be sure to be there!

Rolo Tomassi will be rocking The Haunt

Thursday 7th June: If you’re a big music fan, then The Haunt is THE place to be on Thursday night. Progressive-rockers Rolo Tomassi are known for their thumping, energetic musical style, ensuring that this will be nothing short of a crazy night. Joining the band are Conjurer, a metal band making waves with their 2018 debut album Mire. Brighton based math-rockers Orchards also join them. This is set to be one of the gigs of the week.

London band Float will set The Green Door Store alight

Friday 8th June: Two-piece sound and art duo Immersion play The Rose Hill on Friday night. Colin Newman, of cult-punk band Wire, and Malka Spigel formerly of Israeli new wave rockers Minimal Compact, bring a unique mix of visual art and electronic ambience. Joining them is Ulrich Schnauss, a German electronic musician.

If you’re not feeling Immersion’s more mellow vibes, then get down to The Green Door Store for a night of hard-hitting alternative punk rock. London based Float are joined by some big in the scene Brighton bands, Porridge Radio and Heirloom.These bands are sure to bring out those immersed in Brighton’s rich musical scene.

Julie Byrne will bring her soothing indie tones to St George’s Church

Saturday 9th June: For a beautiful night of music see the mesmeric Julie Byrne at St George’s Church. This indie-folk musician is establishing herself alongside indie stars like Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten. Joining Byrne are Brigid Mae Power, who is revelling in the critical acclaim of her 2018 album The Two Worlds, and folk musician Jim Ghedi.

Lamont Dozier will play Hove venue The Old Market

Sunday 10th June: Lamont Dozier is more famous for the works he has written and produced – collaborating with world-renowned artists like Phil Collins and Mick Hucknall. Dozier, however, has a rich body of work that he’ll be exhibiting at The Old Market in Hove. This member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame brings his unique form of blues, and is supported by fellow blues singer Jo Harman.
