Monday 9th October – Tropicalé Launch, KXVU / Zero / Hamdi @ Mono

This event, which party organisers Tropicalé describe as a “truly unique jungle inspired carnival,” sees a selection of local Brighton DJs play world music influenced sets, channeling the vibrant rhythms of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa, all with the twist of the UK Bass and Grime scene.

They will be occupying Mono, one of Brighton’s finest purveyors of underground music, and transforming it into an immersive playground filled with inflatables, party bags, horns, lights, confetti, and as stated on the Facebook event, a “super happy fun times vibe.”

The lineup includes local DJs KXVU, Zero and Hamdi, as well as support acts Womba b2b Mears and Movement b2b Baloo.

Tuesday 10th October – The Pretenders @ Brighton Dome

Hardly needing an introduction, the Pretenders formed back in 1978 and have earned themselves classic status through hits such as “I’ll Stand By You” and “2000 Miles”. This gig will see the band playing through their huge back catalogue of hits, as well as music from their latest album, ‘Alone’, their first release in eight years.

Be prepared to lose your voice at this one!

Wednesday 11th October – King No-One / Fine Creatures / Halcion @ Komedia

King No-One – An ambitious young indie band from York, King No-One are returning to Brighton for what promises to be a lively headline show. With popular tunes such as ‘Alcatraz’ and ‘Antichrist’, their infectious music has attracted a loyal following and promise to keep you dancing all night.

Fine Creatures – Fine Creatures are a local, 3 piece band who are dedicated to bringing the grunge scene back to the forefront of music.

Halcion – Listing bands such as Radiohead, Tame Impala, and Alt-J as influences, this Brightonian band describe their music as ‘dream-pop’, and promises to be a great support act.

Thursday 12th October – Yellow Days / Benny Mails @ The Joker

Yellow Days – At only 18 years old, George van den Broek (more commonly known as Yellow Days) is a singer and songwriter that is already taking the scene by storm. His dreamy soundscapes and slacker rock style combine to create a sound that translates perfectly to a live setting.

Benny Mails – Positioning himself as a key name in the rising UK hip-hop scene, south London-born Benny Mails started off as a breakdancer. However, this gig will see him in his latest music venture, in which he takes inspiration from old hip-hop artists such as Nas, as well as old jazz and funk records played by his parents.

Friday 13th October – Gentleman’s Dub Club @ Concorde 2

If you’ve been to any major UK festival over the last few years, it is highly likely you have come across Gentleman’s Dub Club, a fully suited nine-piece band from Leeds that base their style within dub, ska and reggae.

Their songs such as ‘High Grade’, ‘Fire’, and ‘Music Is the Girl I Love’ are infectious funk driven songs with choruses that you will know the words to even if you’ve never heard their music before. Not one to miss!

Saturday 14th October – TRAAMS / Nervous Conditions @ Komedia

TRAAMS – Formed in 2011 due to the band members similar tastes in music, TRAAMS channel a sound heavily influenced by a post-punk music from bands such as Television, and The Stooges. The band are getting more established by the day, with them supporting Drenge on a sold out UK tour back in 2014, and will be sure to put on an incredible show.

Nervous Conditions – Hailing from Cambridge, Nervous Conditions are a seven-piece punk band that will act as solid support for TRAAMS.
