Two men have been confirmed to have died after a horrific crash on the A27 between Brighton and Nearby Lewes.

Sussex Police responded to reports of an incident that occurred at 10.20pm on Friday April 30th at the Ashcombe roundabout, where a collision between a black Audi A5, a silver Audi TT and a silver Ford Transit van had occurred.

The two men, a 39-year-old man from Lewes and a 33-year-old man from Brighton, were occupying the black Audi A5 at the time of the accident.

Following rescue, they were taken to the nearby Royal Sussex County Hospital where they eventually succumbed to their injuries.

Since then, one of these men has since been named online as Deano Bigger, with condolences passed online by those who knew him.

A third man, the driver of the Ford Transit van also suffered serious injury, however he is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Two men, 29 and 30, both from Lewes, are believed to have been involved, and have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, with the older man also accused of drug driving and possession of drugs.

The incident itself appears to have resulted in one vehicle having been flipped during the event, with another ending up on its side due to observations made from images obtained.

Police have released a call for help to gain any new information they can regarding the crash, with witnesses implored to come forward, including a white Audi S3 which is believed to have been possibly travelling with the other Audi vehicles involved.

Anyone who may be able to help with enquiries is urged to contact police at [email protected] while quoting ‘Operation Woodman’.
