World-renowned artisan bakery Gail’s has just set up shop at 157 Church Road, Hove and the team are set to do something truly bighearted to celebrate the launch.
They are calling for volunteers to help deliver their excess baked goodies to charities across Brighton and Hove. The bakery’s excess bread will help feed hungry families, victims of domestic violence, and those sleeping rough in town. The move will also help cut food waste, which is becoming a growing environmental, financial, and ethical problem -Britain wastes an estimated £13 billion worth of edible food annually.
The Gail’s Bakery team believe local businesses like bakeries are an essential part of community life and well-being in any town. It’s no wonder they fit in perfectly in Brighton and Hove!
If you can’t spare time to volunteer, pop in for a baked treat. Gail’s is a must-visit for freshly made loaves, rolls, and pastries. The new Hove shop will be home to more than 20 varieties of irresistible bread, including spelt sourdough, rye loaves, fruit breads, and the much-loved French dark sourdough. A delicious lunch menu is also available, including soups, salads, and fresh sandwiches, all washed down with great coffee.

Gail’s began supplying bread to top London restaurants in 1990 and has grown a cult following since it settled in Hampstead in 2005. The company has built up an impressive reputation across London, England, and even the world. There are now dozens of Gail’s locations all over the capital, but the Hove bakery is the first Gail’s outside of London.
