What Brightonians Did This Weekend!

Sunshine, thunderstorms, and fog so thick that it looked like you could cut it with a knife. The weather was crazy this weekend but that didn’t stop Brightonians from having a great time… and from doing crazy things. We were with them and captured the best of the weekend in pictures.

Caution, falling people!

When taking the bus going along the marina towards Peacehaven, you might have had the same shock moment as we had. Imagine sitting on the top deck of the bus overlooking the marina and then you see people falling head over heels from a crane. But no worries, they did it on purpose. This weekend, Brighton’s daredevils were fighting their fears in the marina, jumping from a 160ft bungee crane.

Ana Teixeira was one of the daredevils that did the jump. “The jump was really scary and I screamed a lot! I thought I was about to die!” is how she describes the experience. She did a charity jump as a personal challenge to support her fundraising for her volunteer project in Sierra Leone. Is she gonna do it again? Probably not!

Dancing their way through the city!

Some dressed up in crazy disco outfits, others just in their normal clothes, all equipped with headphones, following a guy in an orange 80s overalls and dancing their way through Brighton’s streets!  These guys were having a great time for sure! At several times over the weekend, Guru Dudu made Brightonians go crazy with his silent disco walking tours.

Stretching those hips, making sure the famous Saturday Night Fever disco moves look alright and off they went!

Food, food, food! Heaven has never felt so close!

Forget about the traditional roast with potatoes, veggies, and gravy! This Sunday, Brightonians went for a way fancier lunch! Sushi Wraps, Greek specialties, artisan olive baguettes… visitors of the Big Sussex Market on Hove Lawns definitely didn’t leave hungry!

Read, rap, get heard!

After popping up in places all over the city with their storytelling performances on Friday and Saturday, Brighton Festival’s Storytelling Army got all its forces together for a big final performance in Ship Street on Sunday!

Reading their stories out loud from a piece of paper, doing a rap performance or performing a self-composed poem. The storytellers found lots of ways to make their audience discover their everyday epics.

This little girl was delighted to see the fountain on Brighton Square in the heart of The Lanes filled with bubbles yesterday afternoon.
