We at Bjournal love talking to local bloggers and this week we were lucky enough to talk to award winning lifestyle blogger Jordan Brown. Not only does Jordan have a brilliant lifestyle blogs full of beauty tips, recipes and general musings about her wonderful life here in Brighton, she has also starred in Sweeney Todd right here in Brighton. We spoke to her about her blog and had a peak inside her handbag.

IMG_2034Firstly, congratulations on your blog award! How did you first get into blogging?

Thank you so much! I basically discovered blogs when I found out about the Cosmo Blog Awards back in 2013 and I was curious as to see what it was all about. The first blog I ever discovered was The Londoner and I immediately fell in love with her style and photography, as well as her fantastic lifestyle. I thought to myself, “I could do that!”, and so in January 2014 I wrote my first blog post after receiving a DSLR camera for Christmas.

My handbag is a Michael Kors Jet Set leather tote which I managed to snap up for a bargain in TK Maxx! Inside we have:

  • My Kate Spade Cedar Street Stacy purse in ‘Train Car Red’
  • My Oliver Bonas Mini Alphabet card holder
  • Business cards from Moo
  • Compact mirror that reads ‘Hello Beautiful’
  • A pen (because I always need one!)
  • Headphones
  • Tangle Teezer Compact Styler
  • Oliver Bonas Lychee and Green Melon hand cream
  • Seventeen Stay Time concealer
  • My Little Beauty lipstick
  • My Bando 2015/16 Planner
  • Le Soft Perfume in the scent ‘Copacabana’

What are your beauty essentials?

I don’t wear too much make-up, but when I do I don’t go anywhere without the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, some form of powder and my eyebrows drawn in. My favourite eyebrow powder is the Chelsea Brows one in ‘Cappuccino’. I’m also obsessed with lipstick and my current favourite is the Kiko Intensely Lavish Lipstick in the shade ’01 Lusty Peony’, which is the most gorgeous shade of dark pink.

11092814_10103290446206281_1320756388700649785_oThis year you performed in Sweeney Todd in Brighton, how was that?

It was absolutely incredible! I’ve always loved performing and it was an absolute dream come true when I got the role of Johanna (who is Sweeney Todd’s daughter in the show). It’s always been one of my favourite musicals as well and it was the most surreal experience to perform in a real theatre in front of an audience every night.

How did you get into acting?

I’ve always been a bit of an attention seeker and I’ve sung since before I can remember. So, when you combine those two, musical theatre is the only option really! I find I can express the feelings of the character so much more though singing and I absolutely adore being able to entertain people.

Do you have any advice for anyone who would like to get into acting?10847436_10103290439060601_2895804834413435886_o

Just act whenever you can! If it’s what you truly want to do, just keep going for it. Join local groups and theatre clubs and take part wherever you can. You never know who may be watching!

Finally, what is your favourite thing about Brighton?

I love being by the sea. During the summer it’s wonderful to be able to take a short drive and be able to rest on the beach. But my favourite location in Brighton is The Bandstand. It’s incredibly beautiful and I was lucky enough to shoot one of my outfit posts there!
