Apologies in advance for the heart-wrenching video accompanying this week’s Charity Tuesday feature but Christmas is an extremely busy period for our featured charity, Brighton Housing Trust. One of the many fantastic homelessness charities in the Brighton area, Brighton Housing Trust support around 1,000 homeless men and women each year. Their First Base Day Centre works with people who are sleeping rough in Brighton and Hove, providing facilities such as healthcare, showers and toilets, food and clothes and help on finding accommodation, training and work experience. Brighton Housing Trust is a people-led organisation, employing over 250 members of staff who go through a comprehensive training programme.
This Christmas they have launched an urgent Christmas appeal in an attempt to raise £20,000 this Christmas to provide specialist support for people who are homeless and sleeping rough. There are many ways in which you can help this wonderful charity during what is one of the hardest times of the year for both the charity and those needing support. One of the best ways to support Brighton Housing Trust is donate via their justgiving page. So far they have raised 72% of their total goal at £14,309.20 and just £10 pays for breakfast and lunch for ten homeless people, a small price to pay for something that means so much to people. Below is the advert by the Brighton Housing Trust which shows a series of events that ultimately leaves a family homeless on Christmas Eve, showing how difficult this time can be for those who are homeless.
