As we slip into the cold November month this weekend, Brighton and Hove has a real mixed bag of events to attend. Brighton Journal has located where to go for free fireworks, an all-day music event, and an illustration fair all happening around the city this weekend.

Free Firework Display – Friday 2nd November
Your Friday evening can kick off this week with a fireworks display at Preston Park! The fireworks show is set to commence at around 8pm, and lasts around 20 minutes. There will be a funfair, plus food and drink stalls – an event is suitable for all the family. Although the rides are priced accordingly, the event is free to attend.

Brighton Arts Lab: Boogaloo Stu’s Load Of Smut – Friday 2nd November
Performance artist, Boogaloo Stu, brings to you an idiosyncratic evening of smut and disco-dancing. Stu combines live art and performance to illustrate your innermost thoughts and fantasies directly onto the canvas. The night includes DJ’s and craft activities from Stu’s pop-up club night Pop Kraft, with plenty of opportunities to get into the party spirit.

Queer As Day Fest – Saturday 3rd November
Green Door Store will be hosting a plethora of acts this Saturday for an all-day celebration of LGBTQ performers by and for the Queer community. Bands lined up to play include Zand, itoldyouiwouldeatyou, Wolf Girl, and Byenary. Everyone is welcome, and the venue will be offering a zine and illustration fair and vegan food stalls.

Brighton Illustration Fair 2018 – 3rd-4th November
Returning for its fourth year, the Brighton Illustration Festival is back this weekend to immerse you into the world of artistic illustration. Tickets are available for single days or the weekend offering entrance to the marketplace, and entry to the weekend’s talks, screenings and workshops. International speakers include Clay Hickson, Atelier Bingo, and Sophy Hollington.

Grayson Perry – Sunday 4th November
The award-winning artist and book bestseller, Grayson Perry, is visiting the Brighton Dome this Sunday. The evening consists of comedy, discussion, insight and costume changes – and more to find out for yourselves. Alongside the release of his new book, ‘The Descent of Man’, Perry is set to entrance audiences on his tour around the UK.

Free Classic Car Show – Sunday 4th November
Owners of classic cars are invited to visit Stanmer House and park their cars in front of the Grade A-listed building. People are invited to this free event to look at the vehicles and enjoy live music in the garden. It is suggested for car owners to book spaces in advance, and you can enjoy 25% off food if you are an owner of a vehicle.
