Brighton & Hove’s first ever beer week starts this Friday 24th August, running until Sunday 2nd September 2018, which will see loads of great beer themed events happening all over the weekend! For more information on this, see our post about Brighton Beer Week here.

Vespertine Dreams @ Marwood Bar and Coffee House – Friday 24 August
Come down to Marwood Bar and Coffee House this Friday from 7pm, for cocktails and Vespertine Dreams! DJ’s Tappers and Steffi le Wode will be back to get your bank holiday weekend started with another night of the finest disco, funk, house and electro! With free entry and everyone welcome, come along and get on down!

Brighton Mod Weekender @ Volks Tavern/The Komedia – Friday 24 Aug – Sunday 26 Aug
New Untouchables started the Brighton Modernist/60s Weekender in 2004 at the fabulous Komedia venue. Now it also features a free 2 day event open for all ages, at the Volks Tavern 200, which is just yards east of Brighton Pier (where the scooters arrive in the iconic film Quadrophenia). You can expect food and drink served all day complete with an outside terrace, live bands Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon there will be the eagerly anticipated Scooter Competition held outside the Volks between 14.00 – 15.00. Both days will also feature open decks DJ sessions, and a market selling records, vintage and bespoke clothes, art and memorabilia. All evening events will be held at the Komedia and are 18+. Street Food Cookery Class @ Brighton Cookery School – Saturday 25 August
Come along to this street food cookery class this Saturday at Brighton Cookery School, where you’ll cook up some authentic, flavourful dishes in a social, professional environment. You’ll be tackling butchery in the Mexican dish, balancing spices with the Indian dish and creating a Thai dish full of aromatics and fresh flavours! The day will consist of making, sampling and then taking home your Street food treats to friends and family! This session is suitable for all dietary requirements and you are welcome to come on your own or with friends and family! Included in this session will be your 3-hour professional cookery tuition, your ingredients (all food made from the session is yours to take home), a protective apron and mineral water. Also Kids cook free!

Tutored drop-in Life Drawing @ New England House – Saturday 25 August
Join his fully tutored life drawing session suitable for any level, this Saturday at New England House. Complete beginners are welcome, as are more experienced artists who want to brush up on their basic skills. The sessions begin with an introduction, followed by exercises on the topic of the day and then drawing from a life model. There will be a tutor on hand to offer personal feedback throughout the class. Booking is not essential and the cost is £12, or £10 for students. Drop-ins are welcome, so come along to learn, to develop and to engage with drawing!

Brighton Antiques, Collectables and Vintage Fair @ Brighton Racecourse – Sunday 26 August
This Sunday at Brighton Racecourse there will be 175 fantastic indoor stalls all bristling with a variety of amazing antiques, vintage and collectable items. The fantastic Swing singer, Steve Conway, will be performing throughout the day and to tempt you further, food and drink will available with a licensed bar, under 16’s enter free and there will be free parking! Expect a great day with a friendly atmosphere!

Northern Soul @ Hotel Pelirocco – Sunday 26 August
Hotel Pelirocco’s contribution to the annual Brighton mod Weekender sees them put on this Northern Soul Night, that is presented by Finger Poppin Daddio and Hugh Robinson, who will be spinning all vinyl all night! Come down and strut your stuff to pure Northern and groovy sounds, with the options having a drink (or two) from the cocktail bar that is open until 2am! – it’s Bank Holiday Sunday after all!!
