Friday – Dup Pistols @ Concorde2
After the last 2 years of sell out events Dub Pistols return to Concorde 2 to smash it up again.
Sometimes you have to go through the mill to realise why you were put on this Earth. So it is with the Dub Pistols, the reggae-breaks-jungle mashup, the gangster-swaggering festival stalwarts whose rollercoaster story reads like a rock’n’roll cautionary tale on a grand scale. When big beat ruled the clubs the Pistols were snapped up for $1.5m by legendary Interscope magnate Jimmy Iovine and anointedGeffen Records’ priority act for America. But Geffen put their album out the week that 9/11 happened, so the Dub Pistolsended up broke and label-less instead of US superstars. This is how it happens. They get knocked down – but they get back up

Brighton: Symphony of A City @ Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts
Brighton in all its festive, bohemian, campaigning glory has inspired a remarkable fusion of silent film and live music by filmmaker Lizzie Thynne and composer Ed Hughes, originally commissioned by the Brighton Festival to premiere at its 50th edition.
Drawing on such precedents as Walter Ruttmann’s 1927 silent classic Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, this new film depicts a day in the life of the city, darting back and forth through time to encompass archive film of the lost glories and contemporary events that have defined Brighton’s profile as the UK’s most vibrant location. This kaleidoscope of local identity is accompanied by a sumptuous symphonic score performed live by Orchestra of Sound and Light.
Supported by Screen Archive South East and the University of Sussex.

It is a rich and honest form of communication and hugely beneficial on the path to self-discovery and fulfilment.
In this workshop, we’ll marry this approach to art with a love for nature, and lead you to a place of silence, connection and creative expression at a beautiful outdoor location. You will create individual land art pieces with gathered natural materials, get to see unique creative processes and gain personal insights.
