The workshops are suitable for people who are new to creative writing as well as though who are more experienced. Soirée Marinière

This Friday at Nine Lives Vegan there is a vegan ocean based (!) feast. They have some pretty incredible sounding fish-free alternatives up on the menu with carrot smoked ‘lox’ with cashew cream cheese, fennel and orange salad, vegetable taramasalata, and banana flower fried fish with caponata, frites and aioli! They will be joined by The Vegan Buskers playing a live set and there will additionally be a chance to view and purchase art and fashion items made in-house by Nine Lives Vegan. On top of all of that, the cherry on the cake is the venue – an old cosy victorian apartment in Hove where you can BYO and just chill on a Friday night. It’s £28 per person or £50 for two guests! Public Launch of Plinth and Constellation Sculpture

Join The Mayor of Brighton and Hove and Councillor Mo Marsh for the official inauguration of a brand new work of art on Saturday from 2pm. Hove Civic Society will welcome those attending as they launch the first sculpture of the series ‘Constellation’ by Jonathan Wright. There will be a full swing band, a cutting the ribbon ceremony, speeches by all those involved and an art display by St Andrews Primary School.

Meandering Through The Lanes

On Saturday afternoon, take the opportunity for a guided tour around the North Laine and South Lanes. The collective ‘lanes’ are the oldest part of Brighton and have many hidden secrets hiding in every corner. There’s tales of haunted pubs, unusual shops that might just pass you by, royal escape tunnels and a wonderfully unusual history. The tour is only five pounds (with kids going free) and is a perfect moment to hear more about the streets we often just ignore as we do our errands.

Portrait and Costume Workshop

All levels are welcome to this class at Evolution Arts. Join Amy as she explores the different colours, style and composition that come with adding costume to a portrait. The class aims to push your work beyond art technique towards something more exciting and interesting. In the morning those participating will work from a model and focus on studio practice and the afternoon will be spent doing longer, more detailed studies.

Fermented Foods Workshop

Join the team at Silo for a fermented foods workshop this Sunday. Did you know that fermented foods can help ease social anxiety, help with allergies, ease sleep issues, weight problems and improve your immunity? This is just some of what will be discussed on Sunday as the team at AlchemyFlow take you through kimchi to sauerkraut to sourdough bread. There will be a platter of fermented food to share featuring the recipes explored throughout the evening, a discussion on the importance of fermented foods on gut health and a whole host of interactive demonstrations that will, hopefully, teach you creative ways to ferment using a wide variety of different techniques.  Tickets are between £30-40 but you should walk away feeling satisfied at all that you’ve learned!

Spring Wild Medicine Walk #2 with Jessie Martlehof

Jessie Martlehof wants the people of Brighton to re-connect with the new growth of spring as the sun finally shines on our city. Join her on Sunday afternoon as she goes on a ramble around the “urban-nature haven of Hollingbury and Burstead woods just of Ditching Road in Hollingdean”. The aim is to give patrons the education in how to safely identify and use our native wild medicinal plants and trees and learn some of the history surrounding their use. Jessie is a local qualified medical herbalist with a BSc degree in Herbal Medicine so you can trust what she has to say! There will be more walks throughout the year but this one will be taking a look at the new-budding spring flowers and plants all for only ten pounds! They’re meeting at the lower entrance of Roedale Valley Allotments just at the top of Golf Drive.
