From the 23rd March until 16th April students from Brighton university and Sussex university are out for Easter. Whether you’re studying for exams, completing your dissertation or wanting to let your hair down – check out this list of the best places to go and things to do.

Sunday Swap Shop
If you’ve left half your wardrobe at home and are getting bored of the same ol’ clothes and high ‘vintage’ prices of Brighton, head down to The Hope & Ruin for a good old-fashioned clothes swap. All you have to do is bring along your old clothes in a bag and you’re free to swap with anyone who wants it! There are some rules though – 5 items maximum, you can only swap the same number of items that you are donating, you must be willing to actually swap your things and the bag you bring will be marked with the amount you can have. Simple!
1st April. The Hope & Ruin. 11-12 Queens Road, BN1 3WA. 13:00-19:00.

Eco-Poetics: an introductory writing workshop
For the English Literature and literature-curious students this poetry workshop is the last in the series at ONCA. The Vert Institute have been exploring how we can address the complex relationship with the natural world through poetry and prose. The list of poets who refer to nature is impossible to fathom but this workshop will begin with a brief look at recent and contemporary eco-poets which they define as being interested in “the relationship between language and our perceptions of nature at a time when eco-systems are deeply threatened by human actions.” Everyone is welcome to go down to the event no matter your writing ability.
April 3rd. ONCA. 14 St. George’s Place, BN1 4GB.

Sopranos Quiz @ East Street Tap
Arguably the best TV series ever made, East Street Tap brings all the fun to a Wednesday night with the latest instalment of their entertainment based quizzes. There’s a round for each series and questions on cult characters and the most important episodes. There will be Sopranos related prizes up for grabs and imported American beers behind the bar. There’s even an extra special Satriale’s burger created by resident kitchen Burger Kult and 20% off food for everyone participating. As Tony said “if you can quote the rules, then you can obey them” so no cheating!

Cards Against Humanity Night
Junkyard Dogs up on Edward Street present the student’s dream card night. Get your gross on and celebrate being a little bit vile for one night only. Form a team of four people or less and let Junkyard know you’re coming along and they will “reserve you a place to sit your nasty butts down.” There’s “very bad” prizes and booze and it’s free so why not head on swing by and make some grim sentences.
April 7th. Junkyard Dogs. 142 Edward Street, BN2 0GJ. 20:00-23:00.

Kendrick VS Drake Club Night @ Green Door Store
Fresh from being horrible at Cards Against Humanity, head down to Green Door after to get your slighty-naff hip-hop fix. Brighton Student Jobs Fair
Sorry to remind you of the world outside the university bubble but over the weekend of the 10th there is the Brighton Students Job Fair. It’s aim is to get students into employment by meeting local Brighton employers looking for staff on a part-time basis. To confirm your place at the fair you just need to write your name on the event page wall or let them know directly.

Penelope Isles/Lingua Nada/Night Vision @ Green Door Store
Penelope Isles rose to local fame in the past two years thanks to their sweet and jangly soft-rock tunes. Fronted by Lily Wolter and her brother Jack, the band provide ambient and melodic pop hooks with just the right amount of fuzz. They’re going on tour with British Sea Power in April and are definitely one to catch before their shows cost £££. Support comes from Night Vision who are the newest Dinosaur Jr style-y band to break into Brighton’s bursting music scene. You can grab a ticket for six quid on dice so don’t miss out!
