Crowns Brighton is hosting a special fundraising happy hour event in support of YMCA Brighton on Sunday 31 May from 3pm–6pm, bringing the community together for an afternoon of live music bingo, fun games and a charity raffle packed with prizes donated by local businesses, including two tickets to see Levellers live at their Hove Park Open Air show in September. During the event, Crowns Brighton will donate 50p from every house pint sold, alongside launching a special YMCA mocktail, with 100% of profits going directly towards supporting YMCA Brighton’s vital work across the city.
When comedian Zoe Lyons heard about the fundraiser she said ‘Brighton does two things exceptionally well, looking after each other and finding any excuse for a good time. So an afternoon involving pints, bingo, music and raising money for YMCA Brighton feels very on brand for the city. Honestly, if you can have fun and help people rebuild their lives at the same time, that’s pretty hard to argue with. Wishing you all a wonderful fundraiser afternoon on 31 May’.
Last year alone, YMCA Brighton supported 553 people across Brighton and Hove, delivering more than 63,000 hours of support and providing a home for over 400 adults facing homelessness, domestic abuse, severe financial hardship, addiction and complex mental health challenges. YMCA Brighton offers more than just a roof over someone’s head, it provides a safe place to settle, rebuild lives and a place to call home. Alongside housing support, the charity also provides wellbeing services, employment support, and long-term pathways towards independence and stability.
Heather Bostock from Crowns Brighton said: “We’re incredibly proud to support YMCA Brighton with this special fundraising event and help bring the community together for a fun afternoon while raising money for such vital local work. We’re looking forward to welcoming people for a brilliant afternoon of entertainment, fundraising and community spirit.”
Marie Claire Macintosh, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at YMCA Brighton, continued saying: “We’re hugely grateful to Crowns Brighton for their amazing enthusiasm, support and generosity in organising this event. Local community partnerships like this make a real difference and help raise vital funds, allowing us to continue supporting adults to reach their full potential, work towards independence and feel part of their community again.’
