The books release comes during Refugee Week.
Frasier Cox, of Brighton, has become a published author at just 10-years of age.
Cox won an award for his book in 2017.
He beat around 1300 entrants to win the Book People’s Bedtime Story Competition, with the theme of the competition ‘Friendship’.
The award was presented by head judge, and BBC Strictly Come Dancing presenter, Claudia Winkleman.
Winkleman was inspired by Cox’s book: “Frasier’s story is incredibly touching and thought provoking and it’s absolutely remarkable a ten-year-old boy has written such a thoughtful story.”
The book centres around two friends, with one leading a normal life, and one a refugee.
It is titled There’s A Boy Just Like Me, and shows that, despite our differences and circumstances, we are all the same.
Frasier’s book is a beautiful tale of inclusivity and acceptance. The poignant line ‘If you look deep inside, we are really the same”, captures the essence of the story.
The young boy is a sufferer of autism, which his mother believed contributed to the books themes: “He just cares lots about different people, and he worries about different people and what’s going on, what’s wrong, how he can help, and for him he’s not very good at not doing something about it.”
The books publisher is Little Tiger, with illustrations by Alison Brown.
Frasier, following his already brilliant contributions to refugee awareness, chose to donate much of the proceeds of the book.
The book is now on sale, with each book sale including a donation to Save the Children.
Frasier truly is a marvellous young person who captures the progressive, welcoming spirit of Brighton.
