Alice Ella brings a debut solo show to the stage this May — and it is exactly as chaotic, funny and unexpectedly moving as the title suggests.
Chronically Sick, Hormonal Slag plays at Komedia Brighton on 5, 11 and 18 May 2026, doors at 7:30pm, show at 8pm. Three nights only.
What Is the Show?
Part comedy-cabaret, part musical, part disability manifesto — Chronically Sick, Hormonal Slag turns pain into punchlines and symptoms into songs.
Alice Ella uses surreal humour, original music, parody and storytelling to explore the reality of living with ME, PMDD, ADHD, IBS and POTS.
The show marks her first live solo performance after years of being largely housebound — and she arrives on stage armed with nipple tassels, mobility aids, toilet roll and a puppet who provides breathing space throughout.
Her own words:
“I want audiences to laugh, cry, and leave feeling a little more seen — and probably slightly confused.”
Who Is Alice Ella?
If you’ve spent any time on Instagram over the past few years, you may already know Alice Ella — her online work has reached over 100 million views, and she has appeared multiple times on The Last Leg.
Her comedy resonates with audiences who connect with feminist, disability-centred, queer-adjacent humour — the kind that is genuinely funny precisely because it doesn’t flinch.
Chronically Sick, Hormonal Slag is her love letter to resilience and ridiculousness — and her first chance to bring that voice to a live room.
Why This Show Matters
Brighton has always been a city that makes space for voices that don’t fit neatly elsewhere.
This show fits that tradition exactly.
Directed by Veronica Von Beuverhausen, it forms part of Brighton Fringe — one of the largest arts festivals in the world — and represents the kind of work the Fringe does best: personal, political, and difficult to categorise.
For anyone living with chronic illness, invisible disability, or the particular exhaustion of being told you “look fine” — this is the show that sees you.
