Quirky Brighton-based Belgian chip company, ‘BeFries’ have pledged to donate 50p for every jar of sauce sold to ‘Build Brighton Dome’, the Dome’s community appeal, in order to help secure the funding needed to restore and redevelop the much loved, and nationally important, Brighton Dome.
Established in 2016 by Dashal and Chan Beevers, BeFries has successfully brought the amazing taste of authentic Belgian fries to Brighton. Alongside perfecting the art of cooking the chip, which the Beevers claim is a similar craft to brewing the perfect coffee, the BeFries founders have also created an accompanying set of delicious sauces – of which the classic garlic mayo and satay sauce are the favourites.
In light of the popularity of these jarred sauces, and the Dome’s need for financial support, BeFries have now pledged to donate 50p of every sauce they sell to ‘Build Brighton Dome Fund’, in order to help with their development project.
Dashal Beever has commented on this fantastic pledge of support: “I first moved to Brighton 22 years ago and going out to see live music has always been a love of mine, I have seen so many of my favourite bands playing at Brighton Dome.”
He went on to say “It is an amazing space for music, comedy, theatre and other events and, with this rebuild, I can only wish for it to continue for many, many more years to come for the enjoyment of everyone.”
The fund was established in order to reach out to local people and businesses, as well as visiting tourists, in order to gather their support in raising the £21.2 million needed to complete the redevelopment project of Brighton Dome Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre.
The fund has seen an amazing amount of support so far, with significant donations being awarded from the National Lottery through Arts Council England and Heritage Lottery Fund, alongside support from local councils, individual patrons and charitable trusts. Support for the fund has been widespread and is sure to secure the total funding needed.
The outlined plans are set to see a drastic change for the Dome, including the creation of state-of-the-art facilities, a corn exchange viewing gallery and a new cafe on New Road. The plans are also committed to restoring the rich history of Brighton Dome, which is demonstrated by the plan to revive long lost heritage features.
