Good news for football fans – Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton will be firing the starting gun at the Brighton Marathon next month.
He’s lead Brighton to the top of the league, and will now send 10,000 runners on their way for their 26-mile journey on Sunday 9 April.
He said: “It’s a huge honour for me to be the Race Starter for the Brighton Marathon in 2017 and it’s a testament to what the team have done this season. The support that we’ve had through some difficult periods this last year shows how much the team mean to the area, and it’s great to be able to do this in their name.”
Chris, who used to play as a full back, has also coached the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United and managed Birmingham City, Newcastle United, and Norwich City. He’s won Football League Championship Manager of the month eight times, and taken the annual title twice.
Tom Naylor, Brighton Marathon race director added: “Chris has become one of the best-known managers in football, not least because of his fantastic work with Brighton and Hove Albion in the last few years. We look forward to sharing the sports spotlight with Chris on April 9th and to once again show that Brighton plays host to some of the best sporting events in the country.”
