Recently issues surrounding mental health and emotional wellbeing have been given the prominence and attention that they deserve, but many are still unsure and confused regarding the intricacies of mental health issues, how to identify them, and how best to deal with them.

If you are you worried about your child’s mental health or emotional wellbeing, or feel like your child might be suffering anxiety or low mood, then this new digital service will be of enormous help to you. It might be that you need some support around a particular issue like self-harm or eating disorders, or maybe you have an inkling that there could be a problem but the root of the issue is something you can’t quite figure out.

Family Find Get Give is a new online space where parents and/or carers can talk about things that challenge and concern them. It’s a place where you can learn from other parents and carers experiences, whilst being supported by a trained therapist.

The team at Family Find Get Give have created an online, safe space that can be accessed from anywhere and is full of information, guidance and peer support. Creators understand that there might be some emotional content and as such, the sessions are facilitated and run by trained counsellors and therapists, using a safe, private and secure platform.

Family Find Get Give is a Brighton and Hove project run by YMCA Right Here in partnership with the Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group.

If you would like more information, to refer yourself or someone else then you can visit their site, or contact [email protected] and/or download and send this form. You can find useful apps, videos and guides for Parents/Carers worried about their child’s mental health on their parents/carers page.

The Family Find Get Give site has a whole host of useful information outlined in a format that is easy to browse and learn from. Subsets include anxiety, anger, eating disorders, identity issues, depression, loneliness, self-harm, stress, sexuality, and suicidal thoughts, so if you’ve experienced any of these challenges, or would simply like to know more about how to identify signs of mental ill-health or low emotional wellbeing, and how to best approach, learn about, and help deal with these issues, then have a look at their site and the wonderful service they provide.

Finding support needs to be quick and easy, otherwise there are real risks of not being able to reach those most in need of help. Find Get Give is a great initiative that helps tackle this problem and gives young people a voice to feedback on the support they receive. The site has a wealth of resources for anyone who needs them, so please do have a look, and support this cause if you can.
