Brighton-based video game development studio, The Chinese Room, saw its title Little Orpheus win Best in Show at the 2022 Indie X Awards and has donated the £1,650 ($2,000 USD) prize money to local youth homelessness charity, The Clock Tower Sanctuary.

The studio – which is based in The Lanes – has proudly supported The Clock Tower Sanctuary for two years and will continue its support in 2023. The Chinese Room studio has taken part in a range of activities to raise vital funds for the charity, including its 10 million Steps campaign last year which raised almost £1,500 and the setup of a donation area in the studio for the team to bring in food, toiletries, clothes and blankets.

Studio Director Ed Daly said: “We’re incredibly proud to be supporting this fantastic charity doing great work right on our doorstep in Brighton. Through events and fundraising, we’re able to bring our team together to do good and are thrilled to be able to donate our Indie X prize win to The Clock Tower Sanctuary.”

The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in day centre in Brighton & Hove for young people aged 16-25 experiencing homelessness.

The Indie X awards are Portugal’s biggest indie game showcase and The Chinese Room’s Little Orpheus was named Best in Show and was nominated for Best Art Direction. The game launched on Apple Arcade in 2020 to critical and audience acclaim alike, with the title going on to win multiple awards including an Apple Arcade Design Award. The game was released on PC and console in 2022.
