A young motorcyclist was left in a critical condition after an incident involving his bike and a car in Brighton.
The 17-year-old boy from Croydon was believed to have been travelling down Wilson Avenue on a black Keeway motorcycle when the accident occurred, with himself and a grey BMW X5 having collided whilst both travelling in the same direction down the street.
Emergency services responded to the scene on Saturday 14th August after they were notified at around 5:30pm on Saturday, with immediate assistance required for the teenager.
Following an evaluation upon their arrival, the boy was then rushed to hospital with serious injuries to his body and a potentially fatal head injury.
The other driver, a 42-year-old woman, was said to have been uninjured and required no further medical assistance before being allowed to safely leave the incident scene following the appropriate discussions with police.
After the response was concluded, the road was then closed off for a number of hours to allow police officers to investigate the incident and to allow the recovery and clean-up of the vehicles involved before it was then allowed to reopen.
Should there be fault found with either party, there is the potential for charges such as dangerous driving or driving without due care and attention for the guilty party, which could also extend to assault convictions depending on the severity of the findings.
Speaking on behalf of the Sussex Police, Sergeant Vicki Rees stated that “We are investigating a serious collision. Both vehicles were travelling south when the collision occurred. We want to hear from anyone who witnessed it or who has any dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident”
To contact the police regarding this matter, they have asked potential witnesses to email at collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or to ring 101 quoting Operation Planet.
