Did everyone have a good Christmas? We’re at that awkward bit between Christmas and New Year where you don’t know if it’s still acceptable to have alcohol with breakfast (it is) or whether you can get away with spending another day in your new pyjamas (you can). However, Bjournal are already looking towards the next event…New Years! Yes, in two days it will be New Years’ Eve and we will be saying goodbye to 2015. If you haven’t quite sorted out what you’re doing yet, don’t worry because we’ve got a great line up of events for you to choose from so you can see your 2015 out in style.
Danny Dyer at Shoosh: It’s a real tragedy that I am not attending this, so if someone wants to go for me and report back I will be forever grateful. The one and only Danny Dyer is hosting a New Years’ Eve party at Shoosh this year. There will be a Pyrotechnic display, fire breathers, stilt walkers, ariel hoop acts and something called Angle Grind Displays(!?!) all while being in the company of the Eastenders star. Early bird tickets have already sold out, however there are still standard, queue jump and meet and VIP tickets still available. You can find out more here
Jailbreak 2015 at The Mesmerist: The best thing about Brighton is that if conventional clubbing isn’t your thing, there are still lots of other events to make your New Years’ Eve a night to remember. The Mesmerist is putting on another one of their Jailbreak events this year. With live music from Bad Bad Whiskey as well as two floors with DJs playing 50s and 60s vinyl and a burlesque show, this is the perfect unique night out. Come dressed as your favourite prison movie character, celebrity felon or honour an innocent detainee and enjoy a night at the ‘Mesmerist Penitentiary’. Tickets are still on sale here
Masquerade Ball at FunFair: Head to the quirkiest venue in Brighton to see in 2016 with a Masquerade Ball. Not only do you receive a free goodie bag on entry and get to enjoy a performance from the talented Dixie Dread, but they are also offering some of the best drinks deals you’ll find in Brighton on New Years’ Eve, with deals like £5 Cocktails, 5 J-bombs for a £10 and 4 Fosters for £10 it’ll be a night to not remember! You can find out more about getting tickets here.
Krater Comedy Club at the Komedia: Laugh yourself into 2016 at the Komedia this New Years’ Eve. With comedians such as Nathan Caton and Romesh Ranganathan you’re guaranteed a hilarious night out. You can also buy a joint Krater and Spellbound ticket for those of you who want the party to carry on until the early hours of the morning. Spellbound is ‘The 80s Night For People Who Hate 80s Nights’. Playing alternative 80s, DJs Simon Price and Jenna play you tunes from The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Joy Division, The Jam, The Specials and many more. You can find out more about both of these events at The Komedia here.

New Years’ Eve at the Fiddler’s Elbow: If one of your New Years’ resolutions is to save money, then get the ball rolling with this free event at the Fiddler’s Elbow. Dance the night away to the best funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz & motown with three for two shots to keep you going until the early hours.
So there are some of the things going on in Brighton this NYE, have a good one!!
