Autumn is well and truly on it’s way! We headed into town to see how the lovely residents are Brighton were dressed for the first chilly week of the year. We’re thinking cosy coats and turtle necks, teamed with a bit of colour to make sure we haven’t fully left the summer behind yet.
First up, we spoke to the gorgeous Ripley, who studies Fashion and Business at Uni. Ripley told us that she always goes the extra mile and matches her make up to her outfit – we love this amazing pink and orange combo. When we asked her about her favourite outfit she’d ever worn, she told us about an amazing 60’s style fancy dress outfit: “It was for a ‘Decade Party’ – I wore a checked mini dress, matching baker-boy hat and full Twiggy make-up!”
Next on our best dressed list is Holly and Jasmine, who were exploring Brighton after having recently moved here to study. We asked them how they’d both describe their style: “to be honest, we usually have pretty similar styles. Neither of us dress too “out there”, but neither of us are boring. We both like dungarees and funky trousers!”
Next up, we chatted to Lareese, who described her style as being fairly minimal: “Or I try to be minimal, but I’m not that cool! I definitely wouldn’t say I’m effortless ’cause I do like to put a lot of thought into what I wear.” In terms of shopping, Lareese thinks high street shopping trumps vintage. “Zara and H&M kill it every time. I love their knitwear – Autumn/Winter is my favourite season to dress for, I lose myself a bit in summer, I never know what to wear.”
We also spotted Hattie, a Fine Art Painting student, who was wearing the most beautiful patterned silk trousers, which she bought from online shop NastyGal. Hattie told us that her favourite places to shop vary: “I love charity shops, but do also get a lot of stuff online from places. I like to mix it up.”
Last, but certainly not least, we caught up with Abigail, who was still holding on to the sunshine in her amazing yellow dress. We asked to tell us about her favourite outfit she’s ever worn: “I wore a Collectif dress to my brothers wedding which I loved. It was 1950’s style, black, with red embroidered flowers, and bronze coloured birds around the bottom of the skirt. I teamed it with fishnets, a pair of heels and 1950s style hair. Definitely my favourite outfit so far.”
