Christmas Markets have become a significant part of our Christmas culture, particularly in Europe, with a previous article listing the best European Christmas Markets. However, for those of us who don’t want to travel quite as far, there are plenty in Brighton happening this year, particularly at the Open Market. Here are seven Christmas Markets you can go to in Brighton and Hove this year.
Creative Christmas Fair: Held at the Brighton Unitarian Church, the Creative Craft and Gift fair aims to give local crafters and makers a place to show their talents. From Jewellery to sweets to vintage accessories and tarot readings, the fair is sure to be a great day out. It’s free, and is taking place two more times before Christmas, the 28th November and 5th December. Find out more here
Judy’s Brighton Open Market Takeover: For Christmas, Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair will be taking over the Open Market for a festive event on November 30th. With forty stalls of affordable vintage fashion, accessories and collectables, you’ll be sure to find something unique for Christmas.
Make it at the Market: Artists, craftspeople and traders at the Open Market will be sharing their skills and experience to help you make some unique Christmas presents. Nothing means more to people than presents you have made yourself, from jewellery-making, chocolate-making and sewing workshops, you’ll make something for everyone! There is also live Christmas music and a visit from Father Christmas.
Brighton Craft Alliance’s Christmas Handmade, Craft and Vintage Fair: More than forty stalls will be selling a wide range of lovely treats for Christmas stockings, from locally made art to edible teats. With music, food and presents, it’s not to be missed.
Brighton Vintage and Antique Markets Winter Wonderland: What more do you need than a twenty foot tall Christmas tree, Christmas tunes and free mince pies given to you by an elf? How about unique vintage antique items to buy for your loved ones to go with it? Local artists have turned the space into a Winter Wonderland which will be a fun day out for everyone. Traditional Christmas Fair: For something more traditional, head to Stanford Avenue Methodist Church this Saturday for crafts, cakes, books, a tombola and a raffle, all Christmas themed. To find out more go here
Hove Christmas Fayre: Another traditional Christmas fair with mulled wine, Santa’s Grotto, a tombolo and lots of lovely Christmas gifts, at only 50p for entry, you can’t miss it. For more information head here
