Comedy Carp, spawned out of a spelling mistake labelling a folder of comedy crap, has grown slowly at the bottom of the tank that is the mind of comedian Rob Speight.
Feeding it diligently everyday, providing stimulus including a treasure chest and a diver that exhales real bubbles, Comedy Carp has grown into a fully fledged fish that not only has a cheeky grin, is tasty when grilled, but also comes with a beautiful sauce containing some of the U.K’s best up and coming standup talent.
With a different lineup everyday, Comedy Carp presents comedians who have been plying their trade up and down the country. Now as they all swim downstream to the Brighton Festival, many will just perform but some will inevitably feel the inexplicable desire to mate. *
The Comedy Carp flock of fish includes :
Rob Speight – Rob has performed across the whole of the Southeast, venturing into Wales and bravely entering the northern territories of the UK without a passport. His comedy has been described as “very clever, and well written “. He is proud to not tell one-liners, and enjoys saying lots of words in an increasingly random order, to an audience who either wish they were somewhere else or journey towards an inevitable, if long winded and over thought punchline. He lives in rural Wiltshire, with only sheep and cows for friends.
Sam Adamson – Sam has been performing comedy seriously since 2021 and not seriously since 2012. Originally from London with a short hiatus in Kent, Sam has been a lover of comedy since Monty Python and Billy Connolly. Although he wasn’t born when they were starting, he has his Dad to thank for their inspiration and makes it up-to him by telling jokes about him onstage as often as possible. Sam has won the audience award twice at Rising Star Comedy and has headlined at GnB Comedy in London.
“It was then over to Sam Adamson and the extra burden a ginger kid like him brought on the family. The sun cream bills alone were crippling! – GnB Comedy October 2021
Tim Biglowe – A runner up at West End New Act Of The Year 2023, Tim is a comedian that lives on a houseboat. He travelled from Reading to North Wales by canal at 4mph. It took 5 months.
His stand up is a mixture of observations and stories, all from the perspective of being a committed hippy and calamitous captain.
“Assured the audience they were going to be in for a decent night” – Chortle
Party Barge – Improvised comedy from an entire flotilla of small vessels
Rob Eades – Rob’s comedy tends to involve stories that don’t end well. After a successful 2022 on the London comedy circuit, he’s taking his material to the Sussex coast at this year’s Brighton Fringe.
Charlotte Fox – Comedian, Actor, Clown, Charlotte Fox brings her sassy, psychedelic and surreal comedy antics to the stage. An alumni of Soho Theatres galaxy of rising stars, she’s recently appeared on BBC1 Prime Time TV, hosted The Atrium Stage at Wilderness Festival, performed in shows at Underbelly Edinburgh Fringe (5*). She has also collaborated with BBC Radio 4 on award-winning show The Skewer and is delighted to be part of the TEDx Dalt Villa team hosting a show in Ibiza. Liam Hynes – Stand up, improviser and Irish, but that’s none of your business!

Matt Puglsey – Matt is dead pan comedian who blends rapid fire one liners and hilarious short stories told through a working class lens. Popular with audiences, he has performed on some incredible stages across the UK, featuring on line ups with Sally Anne Hayward, Nick Page and Laura Lexx.
“Took the roof off! A brilliant mind with fantastic lines” – Comedy Huddle
Charlie Virgo – Charlie used to be a tax accountant in the city and decided to start stand up in 2022 as a way to get away from all the excitement that entails. He likes long walks on the beach and short jokes on the stage
