Sean Carroll, a digital marketing agency owner based in Brighton is encouraging the business owners of Brighton to make sure they are “GA4” ready and that their websites have correctly updated their Google analytics platforms ahead of the July 2023 cut-off date.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the latest version of Google’s analytics platform. It provides an in-depth analysis of user behaviour on websites or apps and offers valuable insights into how people interact with a brand online. With GA4, companies can understand their customer journeys better, track key business metrics, and create personalized experiences for customers. GA4 also offers advanced marketing capabilities such as remarketing, predictive analytics and audience building.
The current Google Analytics version, “Universal Analytics” will stop collecting data from July 2023. After that date, all Universal Analytics tracking codes will deactivate and no new data will be collected. However, any data previously collected through Universal Analytics will still be available in reports and dashboards for the time being.
Most website owners will have Google Analytics Universal Analytics (UA) version implemented on their websites and some of them may even be using it on a regular basis to track the performance of their marketing efforts or monitor how people are interacting with their webpages and information.
Sean Carroll, the co-founder of Vixen Digital, a digital marketing agency based in Brighton, is encouraging all local businesses that have websites and use Google Analytics to migrate to the new GA4 version as soon as possible.
He says, “With the deadline quickly approaching, all website owners need to migrate from Universal Analytics to GA4 in order to ensure continuity of service, data collection and access to insights into user behaviour on their websites. It’s really important that website owners don’t leave it too late and face missing periods of no data, which can affect their reporting”.
Vixen Digital have also produced a GA4 migration checklist that is free to download from their blog.
So if you haven’t already set yourself up with Google Analytics 4, now is the time to get started. Or if your website is being taken care of by a developer or specialist, now would be a good time to check in with them to make sure that you’re all GA4 ready!
