Jethro Tull were, formed in December 1967 in Blackpool, Lancashire. Led by Ian Anderson, the band is renowned for its distinctive flute-driven rock sound and inventive fusion of blues, folk, hard rock, and classical influences.

The band started with blues-rock and jazz-fusion, evolving into a signature progressive rock style after their second album Stand Up in 1969, which some credit as the first record described as “progressive rock”. They hit their peak in the 1970s with acclaimed albums Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play.
