The controversial climate change activism group Extinction Rebellion returned to Brighton this past Halloween Sunday, in an attempt to continue to raise their concerns.
Members and group sympathisers gathered in Churchill Square at around 2pm to take part in a Trick or Treat event which involved gathering outside the shopping centre before proceeding to walk the streets and make their voices heard across the city.
A poster was released prior to their attendance, with a festively relevant statement of “No more tricks. Let’s treat our community better.”
Using a megaphone, various attendees took the time to make one of many speeches beneath the Jubilee Clock Tower.
Most of the messaging was aimed at the current Cop26 climate summit where world leaders are currently coming together to address the needs of the world.
Remarks varied in position from needing to see more real changes, being terrified over the lack of action, and stating the ineffectiveness of the gathering due to there having been 26 meetings and no actual change in reducing the rising temperatures currently faced by the planet.
This event will last a total of two weeks, emanating from Glasgow, Scotland and sees more than 120 key figures gather to try and produce meaningful change in this current battle against climate change and the damaging of the planet by the current methods of the world’s population when it comes to recycling, emissions, deforestation, and other polluting action.
