Sad news for all the swimmers and sun lovers among you. You will have to wait another five weeks before you can finally go and have a dip in the newly renovated Saltdean Lido. Yesterday, the project directors announced that Saltdean’s outdoor pool won’t open its doors until Saturday, June 17, which is three weeks later than they initially planned.
The reason they decided to change the re-opening date is that important gas works won’t be completed until May 26. With the official opening scheduled for May 27, they said it would be too risky to keep the original date in case there were some delays on that.
But let’s be positive. Waiting for another five weeks is nothing compared to the almost seven years of renovation weeks that have already been completed. And the weather will probably be nicer in June anyway.
