To celebrate an end to the first month of 2019 we have selected some of the best gigs in Brighton and Hove this week. With a range of sounds from Brighton Americana Week, local bands, and a Madness-Specials fusion, there is a lot to choose from.

Wild Ponies + Danni Nicolls @ The Prince Albert, Monday 28th January
For Brighton Americana Week, Wild Ponies and Danni Nicolls will be performing smoky soul, folk – pop and alt-country sounds at The Prince Albert. Inspired by the musical roots of Nashville, a place so popular for its music scene that it is commonly known as ‘Music City’, and Southwest Virginia, these powerful musicians will take you to out of the city and into the rugged landscapes of North America.

Israel Nash @ Komedia, Tuesday 29th January
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Israel Nash will be rocking out at Komedia this Tuesday as part of his ‘Lifted’ tour. With his newest album described by the Rolling Stone as ‘A master of sonic textures’, you can expect a top quality performance from this Texan legend.

Roma Palace @ The Prince Albert, Wednesday 30th January
Brighton-based best friends, Pol Mira, Craig Glynn and David Ngochinya form a tight-knit four-piece bluesy pop band that makes you want to move. Joining them for the evening are Isla North, who will be performing feel-good indie rock, and Drowning Boy who create sunny vibes with their funky beats. Join these local bands for a mid-week pick me up.

Dilly Dally @ The Hope and Ruin, Thursday 31st January
Canadian alternative rockers, Dilly Dally toured the world and took the press by storm in 2015. After taking a break from the weight of this success they have risen from the ashes with a new, ferocious album ‘Heaven’. Their explosive sound acknowledges pain whilst also promoting an energy for hope.

Los Albertos @ The Haunt, Friday 1st Febuary
Los Albertos are a 6 piece Brighton-based band who fuse old school ska, drum and bass, and techno, with a groovy pop sensibility. Join this popular band for a dancey end to the week.

Special Kinda Madness @ Concorde 2, Saturday 2nd February
This two-tone tribute band combines the energetic ska sounds of The Specials, alongside Madness’s iconic tunes. Their performance of authentic sets from each band has had very popular reviews… if you want a weekend boogie this is the place to be.

The Once @ The Green Door Store, Sunday 5th February
After a sell-out show at The Prince Albert, Newfoundland based The Once are returning to Brighton this Sunday. Their stunning sound has been placed in international film and television and won them multiple awards (East Coast Music Awards, the Canadian Folk Awards, JUNO Awards).
