Pop-Up Brighton have launched a brand new immersive art experience! You’ve been sent to the Old Police Cells in Brighton to death row. You’re there to have one last party before you pass on to the afterlife and experience an array of immersive artwork.
Pop-up Brighton is bringing together ‘art, dance, theatre and sound in the atmospheric setting of abandoned police cells’. Each cell will host something different, with some only visible through a peep hole on the door and others hosting intimate, immersive performances. Pop-up Brighton started in 2011 by Ashleigh after his frustration of entering exhibitions with a submission charge. So he set out to get an empty shop and transform it into a pop-up gallery that wouldn’t charge the artists to be a part of. He found a company called somewhereto that helped him get his first shop and by the end of 2011 the first Pop-Up Brighton Gallery opened on the seafront. Since then, Pop-Up Brighton has gone from strength to strength, making appearances at the Brighton Digital Festival and branching out to London. Their ethos still stays the same though, they will not charge the artists a penny.
