In honor of Lost Cats Brighton, Gogglebox star, Chris Steed is set to host an auction of nearly 50 unique Snowcat artworks at a Brighton Charity Fundraiser in June. Lost Cats Brighton rescue abandoned, unwanted and homeless cats, with the aim of re-homing them. The charity plays an invaluable role in the community reuniting dozens of lost cats every month with their relieved and delighted owners. For 17 years the charity operated from founder Ron Ayres’ rented bungalow. Sadly, Ron passed away in January and now Lost Cats itself needs to find a new home.
46 Snowcats created by wide variety of talented artists will be visible from the streets throughout May. They will be peering out windows in the Hanover area. Cat sized feline art will be sold to the highest bidders raising funds for popular local rescue and re-homing charity, Lost Cats Brighton.
The Snowcat trail opens the 1st May and will hold a free party between 2pm and 4pm. Included will be home baked goods, treasure hunts, face painting, games, crafts and other fun activities for kids and the family.
Chris Steed will be hosting the auction and Cat Pub Quiz at the Dover Castle Pub, Hanover on the 20th June from 6:30pm.
Chris is a big supporter of Lost Cats Brighton. He feels losing a pet is a traumatic experience and as an owner he was distraught when his own cat went missing. However, he was fortunate to get his back and as a result it became a cause close to his heart.

Each of the Snowcats will have artists own distinct personalities, therefore showing tastes for all on the Snowcat trail. Event organizer, Lucy Clifford has described the trail as “an eclectic cat walk and fresh air art gallery that will appeal to everyone from primary school children seeking out the beautiful cats, to art connoisseurs planning to bid for a unique work of art at the auction.”
The trail will even feature a special Gogglebox Snowcat signed by Chris Steed himself. Other celebrities include Bianca Natasha Barrett’s gem of a piece is covered in diamante, and features a cat collar made by Brighton jeweler Victoria Sol. Celebrated Brighton crime writer Peter James has autographed a copy of one of his books to be auctioned with a Peter James themed Snowcat.
There are even Snowcats that can appeal to body art enthusiasts, so keep an eye out for those tattooed Snowcats on the trail.
“My Snowcat ‘Tat’ is a tattooed cat but I wanted her to have the feel of a willow pattern china plate. My oil on canvas work is very detailed so it was really fun to create something completely different.” – Sara Abbott
The many distinguished art pieces will lure any appeal to the town of Brighton. There is truly something for everyone, art lovers can combine seeking out Snowcats in the windows of Brighton/ Hanover homes and businesses. Visits to artists’ houses, Snowcats inspired by wild flowers, butterflies and bee’s will evoke childhood memories of hot summer days. Plenty of interesting and unique beauties to be seen.
