“Hi, I’m Kat. I’m not actually from Brighton originally, I moved here about twelve years ago, and I’m working here now. I work full time for one of the companies in Brighton.”
What do you find unique about Brighton? “People! Definitely the people. I think…when I wanted to move away from where I was from, and I was really young when I moved over, I was around 19-20, I wanted that kind of like “party” lifestyle, or maybe that “London” lifestyle, but still with a bit of a relaxed edge, and I think Brighton was the best place, it was local enough to move to without going too far from my friends and family. I’m from Chichester, so it’s only about 45 minutes down the road but it’s just nice being somewhere where it’s as cosmopolitan as London but it’s just much more relaxed, and people are much more chilled out. Everyone’s just himself and I think that’s a good thing; it doesn’t matter who you are or what your cup of tea is, you can come to Brighton and you know you’ll fit in.”
What’s your favourite place in Brighton? “That’s a good question, I’ve never really thought about it! I guess it would just be somewhere like being down the beach, but I think places are just made by the people you’re with, so I guess I would probably have to say with my partner, with my friends, wherever we are as long as we’re having a good time.”
Which are your goals for the future? “Oh my God, that is the million dollar question! I don’t know, and I’ve never really thought about it, and I’ve always been one of those people that have never known what they wanted to do. I’ve just kind of fallen into what I do, and I do love it. I guess for me career is really important, and just things like…being able to afford to buy a house in Brighton maybe! Things like that. But I always see myself staying here, I couldn’t ever think of somewhere else that could be better than being here, so it’s definitely a long-term.”
