This week the Brighton Journal met 23-year-old Rose, who was signing the ‘Brexit Bus’ at Sussex University

Rose is currently working as a learning support assistant at a school in Brighton, and hopes to do her teacher training in London next year.

Rose signed the bus, which will be driving to the houses of parliament on the 23rd of March for the ‘Stop Brexit’ protest. “On the 23 March in central London we’ll be marching to give the British people the final say on the Brexit deal with the option to remain in the EU.

She explained that “‘Brexit is going to affect the current generation, the children that I work with. If you asked the kids at my school about it they wouldn’t have a clue what was going on, yet it’s going to directly affect them.”

She thinks that “current political things, like Brexit, should be brought into the curriculum.”

The curriculum tries to bypass these things, but we should start to see education in a different way, by making it socially and politically relevant to students. This would also enable them to make informed decisions and create a space for change.”
