Conceived working with climate themes in collaboration with climate scientists at University of East Anglia’s Tyndall Centre, KlangHaus: Darkroom was originally presented by invitation at Glasgow’s COP26 International Climate Change Conference. Now the 20-minute installation held in complete darkness for just 6 audience members at a time has been updated and reimagined for Brighton Festival 2026.

This is an immersive multi-sensory intense, profoundly emotional and affecting climate-chaos wake-up call. Virtual reality for the ears and eyes. A space to think and reflect from the creators of KlangHaus.

Being alone in the dark invites you to imagine being alone with a complete climate breakdown, brings home the power of nature, the powerlessness of a single human in the absence of society. Humans need society’ (Catherine Rowett, former Green MEP and Professor of Philosophy, University of East Anglia).

The Neutrinos’ Karen Reilly added ‘With Darkroom we are using our skills as artists to help people to think, talk and move towards an essential reimagining of the way we live. Darkroom feels like a critically important show for us.’

‘highly personal, innovative and experimental’ Arifa Akbar Guardian

Klanghaus are The Neutrinos (Karen Reilly vocals, Jon Baker bass and vocals, Mark Howe guitars and vocals, Jeron Gundersen, drums and percussion) and visual artist and filmmaker Sal Pittman. https://klanghaus.co/

Darkroom sold out a month long run at the Edinburgh Festival. The collective have also sold out two Edinburgh Festival runs and two month-long seasons at London’s Royal Festival Hall with their signature site responsive shows that deconstruct a live music gig, dismanting barriers between performers and audience in an audio/visual sensual storm.

To coincide with the dates, Wet Nurse Records release The Neutrinos sixth album, Last Haus on Earth on 1 May.

KlangHaus: Darkroom is part of Brighton Festival 60th edition, taking place Sat 2 – Sun 24 May 2026 brightonfestival.org It is funded by Arts Council England with support from Norwich Arts Centre and the National Centre for Writing.

Press tickets: As this is for just six audience members at a time, press and industry tickets are strictly limited and available on a first come first served basis for the first two performances each day.
