After its stunning re-launch last year, MADE Brighton returns to the Brighton Dome Corn Exchange 28 November to 1 December at the Corn Exchange, to offer an unrivalled showcase of contemporary design and craft from across the country. If you are looking for one-off gifts this Christmas then this is your to-go makers’ fair. |
SCULPTURAL JEWELLERY Sculptural jewellery is on trend with MADE jewellers leading the way. Imaginarium Atelier, a Hove-based jewellery duo, present ‘Tree Tales’, a collection based on forest myths and stories. A tiny owl pendant is housed in a sculptural tree which serves as a one-item jewellery case. You slip the piece out to wear it and then place it back in its woodland home. The sculptural element is created in wood and enamel with gold-leaf, and hand-painted by French artist, Sylvaine Frouin and the jewellery pieces are finished by her partner, the Polish goldsmith Marek Machlowski. |

UPCYCLING Upcycling takes on new heights with the geometric designs of Marian Ripoll that have a retro bauhaus-industrial feel to them. Hopetown & Hunter reuse tiny items such as plastic toys and miniature cricket balls to make one-off adornments. Alison Boyce uses found objects with timeworn surfaces such as ancient artefacts, along with semi-precious stones, to create distinctive pieces such as her ‘Pipe Necklace’, that reflect on the passage of time. |

TURNING HEADS The revival of woodcraft is reflected at MADE. Renowned Sussex woodcut Keith Pettit presents a new series of sculptural pieces. MADE is pleased to be joined by Solace In Wood, a South Wales designer who uses paper-thin green (unseasoned) timber, to create a series of unique wooden objects ranging from sculptural items and hollow form vessels, to contemporary homeware.  Recent graduates from the award-winning Oxford furniture college, Rycotewood, present ground-breaking new designs that proved hugely popular at Tutton & Young’s sister fair MADE London this autumn. |
